The vertical line on the panorama marks where the cross-section is cut. The cross-section is a slice at right angles to the arch: outer surface on the left, inner (tongue/palate) side on the right.

How to use Simplified CBCT

• Open a scan: choose the folder the radiology centre gave you (it contains many .dcm files), or a ZIP of it, or a single multi-frame DICOM file. If the machine saved its own format, export it as DICOM first.
• Three linked views: click or drag anywhere to move the crosshair. All three views jump to that same point. Scroll (or drag the slider bar with two fingers) to change slice.
• Zoom and pan: mouse wheel with Ctrl, middle-button drag, or pinch and two-finger drag on touch screens. Use the Zoom and Pan tools on a phone.
• Brightness and contrast: presets on the panel, or the Contrast tool: drag sideways for contrast, up and down for brightness.
• Measure: Length needs two clicks, Angle needs three (the middle one is the corner). Measurements stay attached to their slice.
• Panorama: pick the Arch tool, click points along the dental arch on the axial view from the right molar to the left molar, then Build panorama. Move the slider to see cross-sections at any tooth.
• Synthetic ceph: makes a lateral or front X-ray from the scan. Save the PNG and open it in Simplified Ceph. It is at true size, so no magnification correction is needed.
• 3D: drag to rotate, scroll to zoom. Change the threshold to show bone only or teeth only, and use the cut-away sliders to look inside.
• Keys: 1–4 focus a view, ↑/↓ change slice, R reset, Esc cancels a measurement.
